Carbon Dioxide and Temperature Graph

1. What is the horizontal axis showing, and what is the range of values? It's showing how many years the graph is covering.
2.   The right.
3. What is the vertical axis showing, what are the units, and what is the range of values? The amount that the temperature has changed.
4. The graph was created from data that was gathered.  Does the web page state where the data came from? No.

Global Warming

I believe the fist one, mainly because it was just giving the facts, instead of trying to persuade us, like number 2 was. The facts in the first one seemed more genuine and fact worthy. The second one sounded ridiculous to me.

Coal Mining

Mine explosions are due to the fact that there is Methane gas being in the mine and the coal dust ignites. The families in america were compensated with 1.5 million dollars, when Chinese families were paid 10,000 yuan which is only $1,577 in U.S. dollars, but this is only for the funeral costs. They also get 660,000 yuan for compensation which is only $78,000 in U.S. dollars. Miner conditions in China are far worse than the United States because they have far less money for coal mining and the equipment that they have has either failed or they just don't have the equipment they need to test the mine. In the mine that they are talking about in particular, they didn't have a monitoring system in there to make sure that it would be safe. I also think that the reason for their mines being faulty is because they aren't paying a lot of attention to what they're doing, they just want to get the job done as quickly and easily as they can because they also knew that there might be something wrong inside the mine but they went in anyways. 

Kilns Pollute!

There is a cement making plant in Chanute, Kansas that is being watched because it is making the towns people concerned because they aren't sure what is causing so many  adults and children to become sick with asthma, cancer, etc. Also, people are beginning to speculate that the cement plant isn't being tested on a regular basis for how much gases are being released into the air, most concern is coming from the people who live downwind from the plant. I think that the allegations are true that the plant most likely hasn't been tested for the Mercury in the air and other various gases because the man that was in the audio interview seemed very irritated and angry at the situation so that must mean that he knows most of what the people are saying is true. I also think that the ones who are responsible are the EPA for not testing it as frequently as it should be tested and needs to be tested. I think that that the way to bring this situation is to have the plant tested as frequently as possible and have the reports in the papers so that people know what is going on. Also they should have to pay a certain amount of money a month for the amount of money it will take to dispose of the waste.

Turkey Earthquake

What kind of plate boundary is it?It it a convergent boundary. 3.) What is the most powerful magnitude earthquake that has struck Turkey in the past 100 years? 7.8 in Erzincan in 1939.

Current Event

I think that the whole country would benefit from this project because it is supplying 90% of its power to China, but on the other hand, they would be building it on one of the world's top biodiversity hotspots and they want to preserve it. They would also lose 766 square kilometers of forests and cause damage to Burma's key river system. I think that the author was against it but not trying to say it in a harsh way because the author did give some good traits to the project. I'm glad that they decided to postpone the dam until 2015 because who knows if there could be a large scale natural disaster that could happen in these years to come.

Age of Earth

I think that Scientists have proven that the world is older than six thousand years because of the layers of rock and how deep canyons are and what is in the layers of rock. Also there is evidence of different types of bacteria and things in the layers. Also, they've proven that humans weren't alive when most rocks started to form.
